Modesto Snapshots: County Hospital

An imposing Victorian edifice, the Stanislaus County Hospital was built on Cemetary Road, and was designed specifically for the indigent. The county hospital was replaced in the 1950s and 1960s with a more substantial building across from the cemetaries, but the street name, by that time, had been changed to Scenic Drive. The county hospital was shut for good in the late 1990s.
